Jaylen's Angelic Angels (Infants)
At this age, children are meeting new challenges as fast as they come. Crawling, walking and eventually running are levels they accomplish in what seems like a blink of an eye. Children learn best if they are in a stimulating environment. Music, stories, outdoor play, and learning simplicities envelop much of the day. Our caregivers are dedicated in helping each child develop these skills through a trusting and loving relationship. A parental daily report is given to update each family on meal times, nap times, toilet training and all activities accomplished each day. Your babies first year is an exciting time with a lot of exploration and discovery.
By offering low student/teacher ratios, our teachers are able to provide one-on-one attention during this important time of growth and development. This allows infants to develop a trusting relationship with their caregiver and to grow as separate individuals in a loving and nurturing Christ-centered environment. Research shows that experiences which involve sensory and motor investigations, as well as social interaction, help to build brain connections. Therefore, our teachers are required to develop weekly plans that are designed to help develop your child’s sense of sight, sound, and touch. Each infant will be cared for based on the schedule identified by the parent. As the development of the child increases, the staff at Jaylen's Christian Academy will adjust the routine to meet the need of each individual child.
The Sun Beam's (1's) & The Aurora's (2's)
In their quest for independence, toddlers are developing many new skills – walking, talking, and discovering what they can do. Their sense of discovery needs to be encouraged while developing language skills through investigative, meaningful learning experiences. Our toddler teachers at the Jaylen's Christian Academy are qualified professionals. Toddler Rooms are probably the most energetic of all classrooms. In a loving and nurturing Christ-centered environment our, teachers keep a close watch as they help each child grow and explore. The Toddler Classroom’s emphasis is on a more unified classroom schedule. Toddler teachers know, for toddlers to feel comfortable, happy, safe, and secure they require consistency on a day-to-day basis. With that in mind, our Toddler Staff sets age-appropriate classroom schedules, with the learning curriculum starting each morning at 9:00 AM. The toddler will follow set routines and will quickly acclimate to the daily schedule.
The Abeka Curriculum serves as the framework for planning and implementing a high-quality program. Based on a monthly theme, the JCA Toddler Staff plans age-appropriate activities that allow hands-on experiences for toddlers. Some of the activities used in the classroom include story time, books, finger plays, art activities, music, and songs. Through both the Funshine & Learn Everyday Curriculum, toddlers will learn about body awareness, self-concept, language skills, and reasoning skills, along with number, shape and color recognition and the world around them. The curriculum offers Bible Based lessons that will be taught in each aspect of learning. Every Wednesday, JCA will host Bible Club Day where our primary focus will be on our students as Beacons of Light.
A second language for toddlers is offered as Basic Sign Language & Spanish which is taught to supplement and enhance verbal language skills. Two-year-old's are constantly in motion and use their natural curiosity for hands-on discovery. Two’s need a rich learning environment that develops their cognitive skills and expands their vocabulary, by this stage in their development, routines and schedules become a big part of the child’s day which promotes stability and security. Potty training is a familiar theme with parents of a 2 year old. With this in mind, the JCA staff will partner with the parents to help reinforce efforts being taken at home to potty train their child. Keeping in mind that one of the criteria to enter the 3 year old program is to be 100% potty-trained.
Pre-Kindergarten children need to investigate new interests and experiences. Pre-Ker's build a foundation for lifelong learning through play, exploration, trial, and error, and gain independence and self-confidence with their growing abilities while achieving readiness skills needed for kindergarten.
Jaylen's Christian Academy takes pride in offering one of the best Pre-Kindergarten programs in the county. Our student/teacher ratio within the classroom is 10:1 with a classroom size of 18 to 20 with 2 teachers. Our goal here at the JCA is to partner with parents to provide a strong spiritual foundation to preschoolers in a loving, nurturing, Christ-centered environment of discovery and learning Pre-K instructional time begins at 9:00 AM. Phonics, reading readiness, math, and language etc. are vital
The Beacon's (3's)
Three-year-old's with the "Let Me Do It!" attitude need integrated, hands-on learning experiences. Experimentation and exploration build higher-level thinking, language, math, social and motor skills; threes love fun and challenging experiences. The 3K teachers offer activities to creatively stimulate minds to the highest level possible by partnering with parents to provide a strong spiritual foundation in a loving, nurturing Christ-centered environment and with the Funshine & Learn Everyday Curriculum. Our 3-K Preschool Program operates on a set schedule with instructional time beginning at 9:00 AM. Days are busy with circle time, centers, show-n-tell, Spanish & Music classes, etc. all before rest time which begins at 12:00 noon. Supplemental planned activities, that are appropriate for this age, continue throughout the entire day.3K classrooms are set up to allow for individual exploration and learning.
Learning environments such as Reading/Listening Corner, Science Centers, Dramatic/Home Center, Block, Sand Play, Small Manipulatives, and most children’s favorite, Art Area. New Items are periodically introduced to further their understanding of the coordinated weekly/ monthly theme. Extra-curricular activities include but are not limited to Bible Club Wednesday's, P.E., Music and Movement, Spanish, Art, Library, Science/Discovery classes, Spanish, and a Media Lab equipped with books, Story Time Area, and Computers. The curriculum offers Bible Based lessons that will be taught in each aspect of learning. Every Wednesday, JCA will host Bible Club Day where our primary focus will be on our students as Beacons of Light.
School-Age
JCA's After School Program is a safe and nurturing program, offered to kindergarten through 5th grade students who attend OCPS. The program strives to meet the needs of every child and go beyond providing supervision. In this unique setting, children are able to develop strong friendships, learn more about what it means to be a child of God, strengthen what they learned during normal school hours, and enjoy extended play time.
AFTERNOON SCHEDULE: Immediately following dismissal at the end of the school day, the children will be picked up & checked in with either the an After School Program teacher. We will begin with snack time. Then the students will spend the rest of the afternoon engaged in homework, reading, Bible activities, games, indoor and outdoor play, and other fun activities. At JCA we understand the importance of reading and will stress the importance to our students. The After School Program will be open from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday on regular school days. The program will not be offered during school holidays or half days. The program coordinator will inform parents as those days approach.
